Two Portland Community College students have been awarded a total of $8,000 in mentored scholarship awards by the Home Builders Foundation of Metropolitan Portland.

Offered annually to college students in the Portland metro area, the Building Industry Mentored Scholarship Competition was created to provide opportunities for students planning to enter careers in construction. The scholarship is funded by the HBF Scholarship Fund as well as industry partners, including the HBA Remodelers Council and Alan Mascord Design Associates.

Jeremy Rosenbloom, who is studying building construction technology at PCC, will receive $2,000. Sherry Pollard, who is double majoring in building construction technology and construction management, will receive $6,000, which includes $4,500 in HBF funding and $1,500 from the Alan Mascord Design Associates Excellence Award. The Mascord award will allow Pollard to visit the Mascord Design Studio and work with its design and plan production team.

Both recipients will be recognized at the HBF’s annual donor luncheon at the Northwest Natural Street of Dreams on Tuesday.
