Awards program seeks high-performance projectsPOSTED: 04:00 AM PDT Monday, August 4, 2008 The Sustainable Building Industries Council wants to recognize the best public and private efforts that are shaping the high-performance building marketplace. The 2008 Beyond Green High-Performance Building Awards recognizes outstanding design, construction and maintenance efforts in creating and operating high-performance commercial, government, institutional, school and residential structures. Projects will be judged on eight design objectives: accessibility, aesthetics, cost effectiveness, functionality, historic capacity, productivity, safety and sustainability. The competition also has a category for high-performance initiatives such as policy programs, research product development, new construction processes and consumer awareness efforts. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 15. Award winners will be invited to a January awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where they will also have the chance to present their projects. Winning entries also will be published at the Whole Building Design Guide, a Web site maintained by the National Institute of Building Science. More information about the competition and application materials are available online at www.sbicouncil.org. |
