Rental housing standards to be revised

A Bureau of Housing and Community Development working group late last week released its draft report on plans to update the city’s rental housing inspection program. And despite the more in-depth nature of the report, which outlines proposals to make the city’s rental housing cleaner and safer, the proposals outlined would prove more stringent for the city’s landlords and apartment developers.

Governor orders agencies to set goals for minority contracting

Gov. Ted Kulongoski issued an executive order today for state agencies to include "aspirational targets" for minority and women participation on public contracts under $150,000. The order asks agencies to review how they award contracts and creates a certificate program to award agencies that do a good job achieving diversity.
